WHAT WE OFFER

Services & Industries

 01

Aerospace Machining

Aspen Machining specializes in tight tolerance aerospace machining.

We have supported many aerospace programs such as Orion, Maven, GOES-R, GPS III, OSIRIS-Rex, and many more. Projects we have been involved can even be seen in the IMAX movie “Hubble 3d”.

Astronauts on Shuttle Mission STS-125 used fixtures built by Aspen Machining to capture screws when training to remove the Corrective Optics Space Telescope Axial Replacement (COSTAR) instrument from the Hubble telescope and replacing it with the Cosmic Origins Spectrograph (COS).

Aspen Machining has experience with every level of Aerospace machining from Magnesium vibration testing fixtures to titanium antenna components for the B2 bomber.

Our ISO9001 / AS9100 registered Quality Management System assures our customers the highest level of quality. ITAR registration and compliance to NIST 800-171 ensures confidentiality.

Precision Machining & Grinding

Aspen machining serves many industries requiring tight tolerances.

Aspen Machining offers surface, ID/OD, and Blanchard grinding to meet your precision needs. Surface grinding can achieve down to +/-.0001” tolerances on parts up 16” x 24” in a variety of materials. We utilize both rock wheel and diamond grinding to achieve tight tolerances in materials ranging from Aluminum to Tungsten Carbide.

We have experience with difficult materials that are not traditionally ground such as copper alloys and titanium. When size, flatness, and parallelism are of the utmost importance, Aspen Machining can meet your requirements.

ID/OD cylindrical grinding is ideal for achieving tight tolerance diameters on hard materials such as Carbide or hardened Tool Steels. Aspen machining has experience with anything from Ceramic Compaction Tooling to building the axles for the light filter wheels for the James Webb Space Telescope’s NIRCam (Near-Infrared Camera) instrument.

Blanchard grinding can achieve tight tolerances (+/-.001”) on large parts up to 36” with great efficiency. Ideal for prepping large stock for machining, production grinding, and match machining where flatness and parallelism are critical.
